A Malaysian man has been sentenced to five years in prison after allegedly distributing two of his medications.
Munir Ahmad Khan, 38, is facing a maximum of eight months in prison after being arrested in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Tuesday.
The arrest of Khanna Ali Khan, 23, was part of a conspiracy to smuggle drugs into the country from China.
He was indicted in the US and India on the basis of a plea agreement and agreed to face up to eight months in prison if sentenced.
Prosecutors allege that Khan, who was a resident of Kuala Lumpur, was distributing counterfeit Viagra tablets to a family of a female friend, who died after taking the medication. He also sold it to a friend, who bought it from an internet shop and used it to buy cigarettes.
Khan also sold the medication to a local pharmacist and sold it to other customers in Malaysia for a certain amount of money. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Prosecutors say that as a resident of the state, he was a dealer and that he was not involved in any activities relating to the business. He also sold the medication to other customers and was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy.
Khan, whose home in Kuala Lumpur was searched by prosecutors, is accused of selling the counterfeit Viagra tablets to an unknown number of online vendors, including an unknown number of pharmacies.
The court documents say the counterfeit pills were found in his home and the defendants were working on their way to buy the medication.
The charges are pending against the suspects, who have been placed on supervised release with the government in Singapore.
The defendant's wife has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and is under investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sarah Linden. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

We’re excited to share this surprising new report from the University of Michigan on the dangers of counterfeit drugs and the need for regulation of these drugs. NPR’s Washington StateCounterfeit drugs pose a significant problem. The drugs sold in the US are often counterfeited and illegally distributed. This puts a strain on the US economy. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in every 100,000 people have a problem.
Counterfeit drugs are sold to people who are caught with fake or contaminated drugs. The problem is that counterfeiting can be dangerous. It can also lead to addiction and even death.
If you or a loved one has been caught with counterfeit drugs, it could be dangerous and could be fatal.
This report examines the risks associated with taking prescription drugs in relation to safety. It also covers drugs containing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), which are sometimes used to help treat conditions like cancer.

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a "black box" warning about the "misuse" of Viagra and related drugs and products during a review of the data.
The FDA's review of Viagra, which was originally approved for medical use only in the 1990s, was a complete surprise to experts. The agency has made a number of changes to Viagra's label in response to a growing number of reports of adverse effects, including an increased incidence of heart problems, a sudden decrease in the frequency of sexual intercourse and, in some cases, of the sudden death of a patient taking the drug.
Viagra's label is not required to include all of the side effects associated with its use. But some doctors and patients say these side effects are more likely to occur in younger patients than older patients, particularly because Viagra's side effects are more likely to occur in older patients.
According to the FDA's, Viagra was approved for use in the United States in 1998, but its label was updated in 2012 to include Viagra's full label warning. The FDA's updated information is contained in a separate document,.
The agency is also reviewing reports from two other countries. The results of a 2005 study showed that a significant number of patients with heart disease had adverse effects when taking Viagra. In fact, Viagra was first approved in 1999, and the drug was the only approved treatment for erectile dysfunction in that country.
In an interview with CNN's "Today," one of the study's authors, Dr. John L. Mottle, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, told CNN's "It's a misuse of Viagra" and that the drug's safety has been evaluated by the FDA, he added. "The FDA has a policy that it doesn't want to give you a black box warning about this drug and so I'm taking that as a warning."
A few years ago, an independent committee of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) recommended that physicians prescribe Viagra to patients whose conditions were exacerbated by the side effects of their drugs. The committee voted 8-6 to recommend the drug as the treatment of choice for patients with diabetes and other disorders that may be associated with the use of Viagra. The FDA had recommended that physicians prescribe Viagra to patients with erectile dysfunction.
The APA's committee also recommended that physicians prescribe Viagra to patients with certain conditions that were exacerbated by Viagra. "We believe that the best way for patients with these conditions to be evaluated is to have a physical exam with a physician and then a physical examination and discussion of the situation, and then, after a discussion, the physician and the patient can be considered for treatment," Dr. L. Brent Gershon, a spokesman for the APA, told CNN.
"We do not recommend that patients be given Viagra and that they not take their Viagra if they have a condition that could be exacerbated by it," he added.
Some physicians, including Dr. Gershon, are concerned that the FDA has not adequately reviewed the safety of Viagra, and has only recommended that patients start taking the drug with a "black box" warning.
"It's a misuse of Viagra. Viagra is not approved by the FDA," he said. "It's a misuse of a drug that is not approved for the treatment of any specific patient's condition."
According to the FDA's review, Viagra was the only approved treatment for erectile dysfunction in that country, although it is not recommended for patients to start taking it, or take a drug in general. Viagra is not approved by the FDA for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in the United States, but a doctor who works in a pharmacy can give a patient information sheet to see what the drug's safety might be. "If a patient can't be given the information sheet, the physician will be able to prescribe the drug to the patient," Dr. Gershon said.
Dr. Brent Gershon also expressed his concern about Viagra's potential side effects.
"The FDA is telling doctors that they should not take Viagra if they have certain conditions that could be exacerbated by this drug," he told CNN.
The FDA is not required to comment on further studies or other research. In fact, some doctors say that Viagra should only be used under the supervision of a licensed physician.
For example, one doctor who is an expert in erectile dysfunction said the FDA has not received any reports of adverse effects of Viagra in the United States. He declined to comment further on the findings of the APA committee. He added, however, that the results of the study are promising.
